Frequently asked questions.
What makes the Run Mechanics unique?
We take a holistic approach to running. We start with a run analysis to identify your style of running and come up with a plan taking into account your individual biomechanics. We have a team of Physical Therapists, Podiatrists, run coaches, and personal trainers to work with you based on your needs.
What’s the difference between your video running analysis and others?
Many things but the biggest is that our running analysis is recorded outside in the natural running environment, not on a treadmill. Every recording and breakdown is performed by a highly trained Doctor of Physical Therapy in person so you can see the process/ask as many questions as you like. Drills and exercises are given/reviewed within the first session to get you started TODAY and not weeks later as you wait for a breakdown of your analysis.
Why do you record outside vs on a treadmill?
Most people spend most of their run time outside, not on a treadmill. Treadmills can affect our form as we all intuitively know.
Should I do a running analysis if I’m currently injured or not running much?
Depending on the injury, this is the perfect time to do a running analysis. It’s easier to work on form when not in a high volume stage of running. Also, an injury can be the perfect feedback system and a quick tweak can be the difference between making it to the starting line vs pulling out last minute.
How long is a session?
The video running analysis evaluation runs from 1.5-2 hours. Follow-up sessions are 1 hour.
What does the video running analysis include?
The day of includes:
1) Recording of your run form
2) Full biomechanical evaluation assessment with the client present, not at a separate date
3) Physical evaluation to determine underlying strength/mobility issues leading to poor form,
4) Personalized plan to develop a running form that maximizes your physiological strengths while minimizing weaknesses,
5) Specific exercises and drills
6) Personalized shoe recommendation.
Do I need to be an experienced runner to benefit from this service?
No. Our video running analysis is suitable for runners of all levels – beginners to advanced
Can I request a follow-up session?
